"If you are an Enterprise Guide user at any level, this book is essential. It is written in plain English, easy-to-follow, and well illustrated. The Little SAS Book for Enterprise Guide 4.2 is thorough, with well-explained examples that give the user the ability to utilize the software efficiently. As with all of the "Little SAS Books" authored by Susan Slaughter and Lora Delwiche, the care and attention given to the creation of the indexes stands above other technical books, making its effectiveness quite appreciated by the reader. If someone asks me an Enterprise Guide question, this is the resource I will point them to!" --Jenine Milum, President of the Charlotte (NC) SAS Users Group

About the Author
Susan J. Slaughter and Lora D. Delwiche have been using SAS since 1983. Susan got her start in graduate school and has used SAS in a variety of business and academic settings. In 1992, Susan and Lora teamed up to write The Little SAS Book: A Primer, now in its fourth edition, which quickly became a popular item on SAS users' bookshelves. Building on their successful partnership, they have now written this book for users of SAS Enterprise Guide. As frequent presenters at local, regional, and international SAS user group meetings, their interactions with other SAS users have inspired them to write books that are both informative and enjoyable to use. Lora and Susan Have Done It Again!
By SonomaGuy
Lora Delwiche and Susan Slaughter have once again demonstrated their keen ability to make learning about one of SAS' core tools--the Enterprise Guide--easy and straightforward.
Building on their success with the seven previous titles in their "Little SAS Book..." series, their latest offering shows how to apply the EG's newest release (4.2) to solve data management, reporting, and analysis tasks. There have been many important changes to the Enterprise Guide between Version 4.1 and 4.2, so if 4.2 is what you have on your desktop, you need this book, too, rather than editions written for previous releases.
This text makes the EG's power accessible to people who are new to using this point-and-click overlay to SAS' powerful capabilities and also explains to experienced SAS programmers/users how to apply EG features in their work.
As with all of their books, the step-by-step examples in this text are clear, organized, well-documented, and easy to understand.
"The Little SAS Book for Enterprise Guide 4.2" is an indispensable resource for everyone who uses this SAS Software tool.

A good tutorial
By I Teach Typing
This book gives nice screen shots, and easy to follow text which walk you through using the user-friendly version of SAS and then it gives easy to digest short well indexed instruction on important topics. As you can see from the index it covers the basics from importing data, doing descriptive statistics and generating basic reports. The sections covering data manipulation and joining together tables of data are very nicely done and will be extremely helpful to people learning how to do research and analysis on real (dirty) or complex data. Because there is not much here on statistics you will probably want to pick up Basic Statistics Using SAS Enterprise Guide: A Primer. Unlike the last release of this book, this version goes beyond the online tutorial and sets the stage for more in depth books like SAS Programming for Enterprise Guide Users. This is definitely the first book to get if you want to learn how to use SAS Enterprise Guide but budget money for the more advanced books I mentioned if you plan on using EG full time in school or at work.
